Description: Certain extremist Christian missionaries alledge that Adult breastfeeding is permissible in Islam. This video addresses this issue. The two Hadith discussed: Hadith #1 Sahih Muslim Book 8 Chapter 28 #3425 'Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hadhaifa, lived with him and his family in their house. She (i.e. the daughter of Suhail came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and said: Salim has attained (puberty) as men attain, and he understands what they understand, and he enters our house freely, I, however, perceive that something (rankles) in the heart of Abu Hudhaifa, whereupon Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said to her: Suckle him and you would become unlawful for him, and (the rankling) which Abu Hudhaifa feels in his heart will disappear. She returned and said: So I suckled him, and what (was there) in the heart of Abu Hudhaifa disappeared. Hadith #2 Sahih Bukhari Vol.4 Book 54 #516 Narrated by Abu Hurraira: The Prophet said, "If anyone of you rouses from sleep and performs the ablution, he should wash his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out thrice, because Satan has stayed in the upper part of his nose all the night." |

It is no longer practiced since there are now safe medical methods (although some "literalist" Hasidic Jews still do it). The Mishnah was codified from 70-200 CE so it is questionable if this practice was used by the early Christians (since it was 40 years after Jesus' death). Also, circumcision was normally done at 8 days to infants and very rarely done to adults (since it was not required by Christianity). __________________________________________________ | |
