While I think they could easily adapt to the fresh water, I don't think they could make it up here because the natural waterways from the ocean have been altered so much. But the short answer is no, there are no sharks in Lake Erie. However, you do hear of people emptying just about anything from their home aquariums into the water. Lake Erie....Shark Free in 07.

I saw this video on-line of a guy surfing Lake Tahoe, and have seen pics of surfers in the Caspian Sea (Iran), Lake Utah (not the Great Salt Lake, but the lake south of it--this pic was in Surfer Mag back in the early 70's), and even the lake north of Winnipeg. Yep, so even small lake surf can happen anywhere someone wants to take advantage of it. I'd like to see a Lake Victoria (Africa) and Lake Titicaca surfer on wind whipped waves--yeah, that would make my day too.
